In spring and summer, outdoor spaces are the main protagonists of the house; the time has come to make them ready and start enjoying them.

When you think about targeting your outdoor area it is important to keep in mind the following considerations.

1. Dimension of Space, Orientation and Use.

These three factors will mark our exterior space in a very decisive way, it is never the same to decorate a large space or a small one, the volume of the decorative elements in the latter case will be of vital importance and with respect to orientation will be essential for use of the garden.

If your outdoor spaceislarge, you can create two areas (one to relax and the other to enjoy lunch and dinner with friends and family. It is important that the two spaces are related, using the same common thread to decorate (one color, one material ...) in this way you will achieve a harmonious atmosphere.

If your outdoor spaceissmall, before decorating it think about what uses you want to give it: to be used to relax, sunbathe, read, ...; or, a space to eat outdoors. As it is a small space, you must take into account the size of the furniture. The rattan, cane or aluminum furniture accompanied by cushions and poufs are perfect for these spaces.

2. Types of Enclosure.

If your terrace is very exposed to outside eyes, there are many solutions that you can use to close it. A vegetated enclosure allows you privacy without creating a totally closed structure. Pergolas, awnings or umbrellas are another perfect solution to give privacy and create shady corners to enjoy outdoor meals.

Think that the sun spoils them and their color varies. So before choosing thefabric for your pergola, awning or umbrella; white or crude tones are themost resistant colors. As for materials, opt for nautical tarps or synthetic mixtures with Teflon or neoprene.

3. Vegetation

Before choosing the plants or flowers that decorate your outdoor space, it is important to keep in mind the free time that you can dedicate to them. If you don't have much time, palms, ficus or cacti are resistant and easy to maintain plants.

4. Lighting

Lighting is a very important element, since it is responsible for giving atmosphere and warmth to your outdoor area. You can use two types oflighting. Functional lighting, to be able to see and enjoy your outdoor spaceand ambient light. If your terrace or garden has a unique element, highlight it with a specific light.

There are many indirect and recessed light systems so you can put them on the wall and floors, the use of candles and garlands of lights also will help create a pleasant place.

5. Furniture

The type of furniture you choose will depend on the dimensions of the outer space. Also of the use that you are going to give it. Nowadays there are a lot of variety of styles, but in areas like ours it is very important that they are very well prepared to withstand the direct action of the sun and are very resistant materials of good quality, otherwise we will have to renew them continuously.

It is very important to protect them at all times.

If you do not have much space, the option of folding furniture is very interesting.

5. Cladding, walls and floor

To achieve a comfortable environment you must pay attention to the floor. If the pavement is for renovation, there are many options on the market

One of them is to cover the floor with ceramic materials that perfectly imitate wood and other materials; they are very easy to install on existing pavement, and are almost maintenance free.

Another option is to place artificial grass in some area of your terrace giving a chill out atmosphere.

And to highlight for the novelty of the proposal is to place ceramic material pavements that can be placed on any surface without works, since they are over-placed, it is a very good solution when you want to replace the floor without works even there are those that have certain thickness, which are placed apart from each other, giving the environment a rustic and natural touch.

The use of synthetic or natural rugs is also a very practical solution, to give warmth to the floor.
